NASHVILLE ARTIST HELPS THE U.S. GOVERNMENT
PUBLICIZE NEW TRAVEL REGULATIONS

NASHVILLE, TN—The Department of Homeland Security has enlisted the aid of Nashville based Canadian country singer Shirley Myers to help Americans and Canadians adapt to the significant travel changes since the 9/11 terrorist attack.

Starting in 2009, American citizens resuming to the United States by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean will be required to present new documents upon re-entry, and Canadian citizens will also be affected Ms. Myers volunteered and recorded a radio spot that has been recently sent to over 1400 stations along the Northern Border.

“I love the United States, and I love Canada, and I want to be sure everyone knows the new regulation so they can visit and have a smooth entry when they get here. “I just want to help”, said Ms. Myers from her studio in Nashville.

Under new rules, reflecting the recommendations of the 911 Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers will no longer accept a driver’s license and birth certificate for re-entry or entry into the United States. American citizens will have to carry a Passport, a Passport card, or a NEXUS card for frequent travelers. Canadians can cross with new enhanced driver’s licenses, as well, as they become available.

“I frequently go back and forth across the U.S. Canadian border and I’d hate to get there and find out that the new rules are in effect, and I didn’t know about them,” said Ms. Myers. ”Security is so important today, so I am glad that extra precautions are being put into place.”

The Public Service Announcement, recorded in both English and French feature Ms. Myers in music and narrative explaining that the change is coming and directing listeners to get more information at www.cbp.gov/travel to get more information to help them avoid problems when they cross the border.

Shirley Myers “Canada’s Country Music Sweetheart” has had several chart records in Canada plus several videos on Canada’s CMT Network. Ms. Myers has recorded duets with Johnny Lee, Chad Brock, and Grand Ole Opry star, the late Billy Walker.
